In June Renato Balsadonna will make is conducting debut in the USA. He will lead an acclaimed production of Giuseppe Verdi iconic opera La Traviata at the Cincinnati Opera Ohio.

After a personal invitation by Valery Gergiev Renato made his triumphant debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in St.Petersburg conducting a concert performance of Nabucco with a stellar cast featuring Maria Guleghina, Roman Burdenko, Mikhail Petrenko. Few days later he conducted also a performance of Donizetti Lucrezia Borgia at the Mariinsky Concert Hall.
In April Renato conducted with great acclaim a run of five performances of Puccini Madama Butterfly with an extraordinary cast including Ana María Martinez, Teodor Ilincai, Scott Hendricks, Elizabeth DeShong, Carlo Bosi. Find more about this production on the Royal Opera House website.

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Renato Balsadonna conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall on 15 September 2016. This opera gala evening celebrated his new recording with the orchestra, which had just been released, and also featured music from the disc. The programme included opera favourites by: Bizet, Puccini, Verdi, Massenet, Gounod, Mascagni.

After his recent success conducting La Bohème in Trieste, Renato Balsadonna conducted the final night of Daniele Abbado’s powerful production of Verdi’s epic Nabucco at the Royal Opera House. In May 2016, Renato lead the chorus and orchestra from the Fondazione Teatro Lirico ‘Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste’ in 8 performances of La Bohème. 6 performances took place at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, before moving on to the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, where there was a further performance on 25 May for young people and schools, before Renato’s final performance in Udine on 26 May.
Renato Balsadonna took up the baton to conduct the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Fairfield Halls on 20 April 2016. This special concert was an opera gala evening featuring a range of overtures, arias, and duets from composers such as Rossini, Puccini, and Verdi, performed by soprano Hye-Youn Lee, tenor Anthony Flaum, and baritone Roland Wood. The programme showcased repertoire featured on an album that Renato and the orchestra had recently recorded and was released in September 2016.
